Thank you for an unforgettable 18 years
They say all good things must come to an end, and after a great deal of thought, I’ve made the difficult decision to cease trading as SteveXP Disco & Karaoke.
For 18 incredible years, I had the privilege of providing entertainment for hundreds of events. It’s been one of the great joys of my life to help people celebrate their milestones—birthdays, weddings, engagement parties, anniversaries, New Year’s Eve celebrations, Christmas parties, themed nights, school discos, proms, charity fundraisers, corporate functions, award ceremonies, summer BBQs, community fairs, karaoke parties, pub and club nights, garden parties, retirement celebrations, surprise parties, reunion events, hotel functions, children’s parties, family fun days,—and of course my seven‑year residency every Tuesday at The Odd Shoe in Croydon. I’m genuinely proud of the memories we created together.
When Covid‑19 hit, demand for events disappeared almost overnight. Those years were tough, with only a handful of bookings across entire seasons. And although restrictions eventually lifted, the landscape had changed. A combination of reduced demand, increased competition, and rising costs—equipment, music licensing, insurance, storage—made it harder and harder to operate sustainably. More often than not, I found myself quoting low just to win work, only to barely cover costs. In the long run, that simply isn’t viable.
So, with sadness but also with immense gratitude, I’m closing this chapter.
Thank you to every customer, every venue, every singer, every dancer, and everyone who trusted me to be part of their celebrations. It has truly been one of the most rewarding chapters of my life.
